Luxury jeweler Tiffany and Company has confirmed a data breach that exposed the personal information of nearly 2,600 customers. The company determined that an unauthorized party gained access to an external system and obtained sensitive data related to customer gift cards. Exposed information included client names, contact details, sales data, and in some cases, gift card numbers and PINs. The incident occurred in May but was not fully confirmed until September, after which affected individuals were notified in writing. The company has launched a comprehensive security review but has not offered identity theft protection services at this time.
